East Sooke is predominantly a few secondary roads (East Sooke & Gillespie and to a lesser degree Mt Matheson) with residential neighbourhoods of family homes on side roads. 50kph is a fundamentally unsafe default speed limit for these neighbourhoods.

The BC NDP has introduced this spring legislature session Bill 7 - "ECONOMIC STABILIZATION (TARIFF RESPONSE) ACT". The claimed reasoning behind it is the extremely unpredictable economic environment due to the aggressive and malevolent actions particularly tariffs taken by President Trump against Canada. However, the bill is deeply flawed.

PHP 8.4 Nullable Types

PHP 8.4 - released at the end of November 2024 - has deprecated implicit nullable types. For many years (since PHP 5.1), types on function arguments could have a default value of null provided even if the type itself was not nullable.
