Moving to an East Sooke wide focus

Although it took time as political discussions are wont to - particuraly with summer holidays and a provincial election - discussions were productive with CRD Directors Al Wickheim & Paul Brent. Both expressed support at least in the abstract and acknowledged that traffic safety is an ongoing concern. So starting already on a better foot than with MOTI although lacking the direct power to change things that MOTI has.

Through discussions, it was decided, basically I'm going back to my original thought and doing the whole meal deal. Instead of asking for Park Heights, I'm going to be asking for all of the residential neighbourhoods in East Sooke to be changed to 30km speed limits. Interestingly, the top end of Leda is actually the farthest any residential area is from East Sooke road so other neighbourhoods would have even smaller impacts in terms of travel time. Once I have canvassed the whole community, I'll take it back to the CRD Directors and we'll go from there

To best address the right people, I wanted to wait to actually do door knocking and soliciting letters/signatures of support until we knew who the knew MOTI minister actually was. Given the election closeness and the time it took for recounts, that has taken a bit more time than I would've preferred, but we are expecting to finally know the ministers on Monday November 18th. So as soon as we're done that, you can expect me on your doorsteps - I'll be really grumbling about the early dark for that but ah well.
